Optimizing GC Volunteer Management & GC Social Fundraising Connections for Giving Days or Other Major Campaigns
If you’re using both GC Volunteer Management and GC Social Fundraising, getting the two tools talking to each other is really important. These connections will empower your volunteers with up to date data and ensure they can do all their work in one place!
There are 4 pieces of functionality we recommend utilizing to make sure the tools are optimized to work together!
-
Advocate Merge Tokens: Set up your email templates so they automatically include each volunteer’s custom advocate link for your campaign. This allows each volunteer to easily send out their own personal advocate link, and thus be able to get celebrated publicly for the clicks, gifts, and dollars that they have generated from the outreach they did via GC Volunteer Management.
Enabling Advocate Merge Tokens:- Set up & Pre-Launch Your Social Fundraising Campaign
- Create a new email template
- Select which campaign the advocate links should point to
- Determine the text language that will be hyperlinked
- Use the merge token to ‘Add Personal Advocate Link’ wherever you want that to appear in your email content.
- Here’s what that’ll look like to the email recipient!
Not seeing these options within your volunteer management email template builder? Reach out to support@givecampus.com and ask to enable advocate merge tokens!
-
Pending Gift Filters / Notifications: Enabling pending gifts allow volunteers to have insights into when their assignments donate on GiveCampus without having to wait for those gifts to be deposited and reconciled into your database. They will be able to see in near real time who has already donated, and filter their assignment lists to take those ‘pending gifts’ into account.

-
Social Fundraising campaign embedded within GC Volunteer Management: Embed your campaign right within the volunteer management dashboard, so volunteers can send emails, track campaign progress, and share on social media all in one place!

-
Announcements: Use announcements to encourage volunteers to share and remind them when the campaign is happening! They will see this pop up immediately when they log into the volunteer management system – it’s a great place to share a few final reminders and words of encouragement. We recommend describing pending gifts and how to leverage those during the campaign.
Here’s an example:
Giving Day is THIS WEDNESDAY, March 16! This day is all about participation -- thank you for reaching out to your assignments.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:- A $100,000 challenge was just announced! When 1,855 alumni, parents, and friends join in on Giving Day, a group of trustees will add $100,000 to our Giving Day total.
- You will now receive pending gift notifications* for your assignments. This will allow you to keep track of your assignments' participation in real-time over the next few days.
- A "Pending Gift" filter is now available in your "Email" tab. This will allow you to filter out any assignments with a gift pending for Giving Day.
*What is a pending gift? A pending gift means an assignment made a gift on the Giving Day site, but the college hasn't yet formally processed that contribution in our database.
