How to use
In the supported GC Connect app/device setup, select the intended campaign or giving form, enter the donor’s information, and follow the reader’s payment prompts. Wait for the app’s transaction-success result before treating the gift as complete. The checked-in guide describes donor confirmation emails using the selected campaign/form’s email.
Online Giving settings also expose Registered Devices. GC Connect supports reader-based gifts. MOTO uses a separate registered-device workflow; follow the instructions for the product and hardware you are using.
Troubleshooting
Collect the app/device type, selected form, transaction time, and displayed result. A successful card read is not by itself proof of a completed transaction. Check the gift record before trying another charge.
GC Connect access is a separate permission
The GC Connect terminal sign-in looks for a fundraising administrator record with GC Connect Access (terminal_access) enabled. It also validates the relevant API access and school eligibility. It does not impose the MOTO rule solely by checking the labels Fundraising Superadmin or Gift Management Admin. An authorized administrator can review the GC Connect Access column where the Stripe Terminal feature exposes it. Confirm the actual app/interface and permissions; do not grant broad superadmin access merely to address a Connect sign-in failure.
A USB cable is not proof of a computer payment connection
The checked-in legacy GC Connect guide says its reader's USB port is for charging, while the reader connects to the mobile GC Connect app through Bluetooth Low Energy. It describes iPhone/iPad use. Therefore do not direct a user to plug an unidentified reader into a computer merely because it has a USB connector.
Identify the exact reader model and intended product first. Confirm current app/device support and setup with the approved device guidance or support before an event; this historical guide does not confirm compatibility for every Stripe-branded reader or the separate registered-device/MOTO workflow. A photo/model identifier can distinguish the hardware without exposing payment data.
Telephone card gifts and MOTO
Use GC MOTO for the supported staff mail/telephone card-processing workflow. It requires an eligible giving form, school access, authorized user and registered device, and sends the payment to that device in MOTO mode. GC Connect is a separate reader workflow, not an interchangeable set of telephone-entry instructions. Alternatively, give the donor the secure public giving-form link to enter and authorize their own payment. Confirm any other staff-entry arrangement with the account team; do not request card details through support messages.
Use the current approved guide for your reader model when pairing hardware. Device availability and charges depend on your school’s setup; instructions for a different reader may not apply.
