Create the designation, then attach it to the form

1. Open Online Giving → School-Level Settings → Designations and create the fund using its donor-facing name and institution-approved backend identifier. Do not invent a CRM fund identifier.
2. Open Online Giving → Forms → select the form → Giving Experience → Form Settings & Display → Designation Configuration and add the designation or intended group.
3. Open Giving Experience → Form Builder and add the Designation field so the donor flow can submit the designation.
4. Save and preview the form. Check that the intended funds appear and that gifts record the expected designation.

A designation selected in settings alone does not apply to gifts, even if only one designation is offered. To apply one fund to all gifts, offer only that designation, mark it pre-selected in Designation Configuration, add the Designation field in Form Builder and make it required.

School-level existence does not prove a form includes the fund. Changes to the form do not retroactively allocate previous gifts. Duplicate active name/backend-identifier pairs are rejected; use the institution’s approved fund configuration.
