Distinguish recurring gift records, subscriptions, installments and donor counts

Recurring Donations lists parent recurring gifts, with Campaign, Donation ID, Donor Name, Full Pledge Amount, Amount Paid So Far, Initial Pledge Date and State. Expanding a row shows individual installments. It is not a flat installment-only listing. Recurring Subscriptions lists the associated scheduling/subscription records; the query excludes pending subscriptions and ordinary pledge subscriptions.

For exports, Recurring Donation Reports provides separate Installment Report and Subscription Report sections. The installment report offers pledge/capture dates; the subscription report offers creation, modification or last-run dates. Choose the date field that answers the question. Do not add commitment totals to installment amounts as though both represent separate money collected.

To count recurring donors, first define whether the population includes failed, canceled or ended subscriptions, then count distinct people using an agreed reliable identifier. Subscription count, parent-gift count, installment count and donor count can differ. The KB cannot provide a school's actual count without its data.

The report screen's Include failed gifts checkbox includes failures; it is not a failed-only filter or proof retries are exhausted. To investigate outstanding failures, inspect current subscription state and latest attempts in the exported/live data with support. Date windows can omit older subscriptions or failures. Do not assume that this checkbox alone produces everyone still failing after five reminders, or that five failed emails always occur.
