Upload an audience of existing constituent IDs for texting

For school administrators using GiveCampus Outreach. Controls can differ between the classic email editor and the newer Composer editor.

In the Outreach segment-upload flow, use a CSV with headers external_id, first_name, last_name, and at least one of email_address or phone_number. The header requirement still applies when the people already exist; an ID-only file is not the schema for this Outreach upload. Other product uploaders can have different schemas. The upload screen allows CSV files up to 10 MB.

Rows are matched by constituent external ID within the school. Blank names/contact values can fall back to matched constituent data, including the preferred email and cell phone, but an unmatched ID cannot supply a missing number. Review the populated members and valid texting numbers before selecting the segment as an audience. Upload creation and completion of member processing are separate; do not send merely because the file was accepted. Identify whether the user is in Outreach or a legacy texting interface before prescribing the same navigation.
