Custom CSV column absent from the merge-field picker

For school administrators using GiveCampus Outreach. Controls can differ between the classic email editor and the newer Composer editor.

For the direct Outreach recipient upload, custom token headers start with custom_ and use letters, numbers and underscores; use lowercase consistently. Check the upload screen’s current custom-token limit before preparing a large file. The email editor lists custom tokens stored for that specific outreach after its upload is processed. An arbitrary column in a separate segment/file is not proof that the same token has been loaded into this outreach.

Check the actual recipient source/upload, required headers, processing result and a recipient's custom value before inserting the field. For direct email recipient uploads the required standard headers are external_id, first_name, last_name and email_address. Do not send with a missing token or duplicate the audience merely to make a field appear; support should reconcile the existing source and load result first.
