Choose the right first-name token – GiveCampus University

For school administrators using GiveCampus Outreach. Controls can differ between the classic email editor and the newer Composer editor.

Use the token picker and choose the token for the intended source. The generators use this order of available values:

Token	Source priority
Constituent First Name ( $Const_First_Name$ )	Linked constituent CRM first name, then direct recipient CSV first name, then segment-member first name.
CSV Recipient First Name ( $Csv_Recipient_First_Name$ )	Direct recipient CSV first name, then segment-member first name, then linked constituent CRM first name.
Preferred First Name ( $Pref_First_Name$ )	Linked CRM preferred first name, then CRM first name, then recipient CSV first name, then segment-member first name.

A CSV-token label does not guarantee that every recipient has a CSV name: fallback sources can be used. For an exact institution-defined salutation, supply a custom field rather than relying on inferred names. Review actual recipient substitutions, including blank names and shared addresses, before sending. A generic sample preview is not evidence of a particular recipient's greeting.
