Combining a tracking short link and a personalization token

For school administrators using GiveCampus Outreach. Controls can differ between the classic email editor and the newer Composer editor.

The GiveCampus short-link redirect preserves added query parameters such as token and adid, merging them into its stored destination. It deliberately excludes incoming a and plea overrides, so do not substitute a short-link key for the destination's tracking identifier.

New workflow links use a signed token value; legacy personalization can use adid. Renaming the query key does not convert a legacy value into a newer token. Use the exact generated value for the chosen workflow/person in the same school; confirm that the intended destination form supports that personalization workflow. If using an uploaded custom field in Outreach, the link can contain ?token=$custom_token$ (or &token=... on a URL with an existing query), but only when that recipient's custom_token actually contains the correct generated token. A literal custom_token word or a missing custom field cannot personalize the page.

Verify the fully substituted received link and resulting giving form for a representative recipient, including the tracking destination. A generic preview's sample value does not prove that recipient token is valid. This is not permission to distribute someone else's personalized link publicly or a guarantee that every external shortener behaves the same way.
