Shared Assignments disablement and Selectable rules

For the established (legacy) Volunteer Management portal. These steps differ from the newer Volunteer Management interface. Staff access is determined by their assigned administrator role(s). Administrator roles have fixed capabilities; the configurable volunteer roles described here are separate from staff administrator roles.

Shared Assignments is a feature enablement controlled by GiveCampus, rather than an ordinary role-setting checkbox. Disabling it does not itself unpair all existing assignments; review existing shared assignments explicitly. With sharing disabled, assignment CSV loading does not add a second simultaneous assignment to an already assigned constituent unless the overwrite workflow replaces the prior assignment. Manual administrator assignment likewise replaces the previous volunteer rather than bypassing the non-shared rule. A constituent marked unselectable remains unavailable for new volunteer self-selection even when Shared Assignments is enabled; that flag controls selection, not an automatic removal of existing assignments.

What if two volunteers request the same constituent?

When Shared Assignments is disabled, the first pairing that an administrator approves becomes the assignment. Approval also rejects other pending requests for that same constituent. Submitting a request first does not reserve the constituent ahead of another approved request.

Review pending requests in Volunteer Management → Manage Volunteers → Assignments before approving the intended pairing. Check the volunteer, constituent and role carefully. If Shared Assignments is enabled, the role's shared-assignment limits determine whether another pairing can be approved; do not apply the one-volunteer rule to every school. Volunteer and role assignment limits can also affect which pending requests are rejected.
