Connect the school account
An administrator with school-settings permission can open Company Matching, enter the Double the Donation Public Key, and Save Changes. GiveCampus checks the key and subscription response and displays Subscription Status. Confirm that status is active rather than assuming the save message proves an active integration. An invalid-key response must be resolved using the correct account key; do not request a private credential in an ordinary support reply.
While active, the public-key field is disabled; the screen permits changing the search Input Label and Input Placeholder. Only GiveCampus staff can disconnect the integration. Ask support to handle an account/key replacement instead of inventing a school-admin disconnect step.
Enable the form field
Where the form's Corporate Matching Gifts settings are available, select Enable “Double the Donation” company search field and save the form settings. Verify the intended form after configuration. A connection request in a support ticket does not prove activation has occurred.
To remove employer search from one form, clear that form’s company-search setting and save. This setting adds or removes the employer-matching field on the current form; disconnecting the school integration is a different action. If “Company” is a general custom field instead, inspect that field in the form builder rather than using employer-matching settings.
Employer matching is separate from a campaign's donor-created match/challenge offers. Reports and analytics inside the external Double the Donation account require that provider's documentation or support; do not fabricate an external report path from GiveCampus code.
Post-payment company matching
Company Matching Gift URL is a link destination for the post-payment Match my gift button. It is separate from the Double the Donation widget. The widget renders when the form's company-search setting is enabled AND the school is partnered; an active school connection alone does not guarantee it on every form. In the newer settings UI the URL field is not restricted to schools without Double the Donation (it is hidden for membership forms). Review the resulting post-payment page rather than assuming one setting replaces the other.
Double the Donation activation and employer prefill
Enabling the school Double the Donation integration preserves each form’s saved Enable company search field setting; it does not bulk-set every existing form. That project setting defaults to true, so an ordinary existing form that retains the enabled setting can show the field once the school integration is active; forms explicitly disabled remain disabled, and pledge creation sets it false. Check each target form’s setting and preview. The current GiveCampus widget has no supported employer-name/company-ID URL-prefill mapping. Its selected employer is captured from the Double the Donation search widget on submission, so an ordinary custom employer query parameter should not be presented as selecting a verified matching company.
Link to the employer-search section of a giving form
For the classic and v3 giving-form templates, the employer-search container has the HTML ID dd-company-name-input. A full giving-form URL with #dd-company-name-input appended after its query string can target that section using the browser’s ordinary fragment navigation—for example, /donations/new?a=YOUR_TRACKING_ID#dd-company-name-input. The field must actually be enabled and rendered on that page. This is template-dependent, not a dedicated independent employer-search page or a guarantee for every embed/editor: test the exact public form on desktop/mobile before distributing it, because rendering/redirects can affect scrolling.
API and report fields when employer matching is enabled
The Gifts API always includes a matching_company object with id, name, search_status and search_text; when no company selection is present, its values are null. Enabling the matching integration does not conditionally replace the gift object's shape in the response. The donation-report view also has company-matching columns independently of a particular gift's values. Check the selected report columns and a sample API response before enabling production automation; populated fields and selected CSV columns are distinct from a schema change, and this is subject to the API version you use.
Employer matching does not automatically double campaign totals
Double the Donation registers the donor gift and selected employer with the external matching service. Selecting an employer or initiating its request is not receipt of a second payment and does not automatically add that potential employer match to the campaign total. Record a confirmed employer gift through the appropriate supported gift/offline workflow if it should count, and avoid duplicating a gift already recorded. Campaign donor-funded matches and challenges are separate.
