Understand annual installment counts and future initial payment dates

For ordinary finite annual recurring giving, a four-year duration means four installments total, including the initial installment, not an initial payment plus four more. The subscription maximum is the payment-frequency multiplier times the duration; annual giving uses one per year. Later edits or a deferred start can alter the actual schedule, so confirm the saved payment list.

The When would you like this gift to begin? date picker is limited to the supported Smart Appeal flow: the batch must match the form and have future recurring start enabled. The available date range follows that configuration and can disappear when its allowed maximum is in the past. It is not a universal future-start option on every giving form.

If the donor uses an ordinary form without that picker, ask support to confirm the supported setup before accepting instructions for a future first charge. Editing an existing subscription's Next Payment is different from selecting its initial payment date during checkout.
