Receipt name differs from public donor name – GiveCampus University

This article covers gifts made through GiveCampus. Payment and recurring-gift options depend on the institution and the form.

The legacy tax receipt uses the payment name when available, falling back to the donor name. The public campaign donor list uses the donor name. Correcting a public donor name therefore does not mean that the receipt's name has changed. Have an authorized administrator or support inspect the exact gift and template, correct the appropriate source, and resend an eligible receipt. A resend alone does not correct unchanged data or guarantee future gifts use the corrected name. Account and future checkout data must be checked separately. This describes the legacy receipt format, not a guarantee for every custom template.

Include both names in a gift-confirmation greeting

Open Online Giving → Forms → select the form → Email Templates. For a campaign using the redesigned menu, open Online Giving → Campaigns → select the campaign → Giving Experience → Gift Confirmation Emails; the classic campaign menu calls this Email Templates. Choose the appropriate gift email template and insert Donor Name and Joint Donor Name ( $JOINT_GIFT$ ) from its merge-token choices.

This token contains the payment name and joint donor name joined with “and” when a joint name exists. When there is no joint name, it falls back to the payment name alone. Use this combined token by itself in the greeting; adding $DONOR_NAME$ and then $JOINT_GIFT$ can repeat the first donor's name. Use Test Changes to check the layout, and verify the greeting for both a joint gift and an individual gift before relying on it. To make the change active, choose Save and Publish and confirm Save and Publish Changes; Save Draft alone does not activate it.

The token changes the email body. It does not add a joint donor to a gift or change the public donor list. If a real email shows an unexpected name or N/A, inspect the actual gift and selected template rather than assuming the token always produces N/A for individual gifts.
