Interpret recurring management links and payment notification templates

This article covers gifts made through GiveCampus. Payment and recurring-gift options depend on the institution and the form.

Test/preview recurring templates intentionally replace the management-link token with “Link to Manage Recurring Gift not yet available.” This is not by itself a broken live link. A persisted subscription can generate its private management URL. For a bank gift awaiting microdeposit verification, the message can instead explain that the link arrives after verification. TouchNet has separate restrictions; its template controls do not offer the same donor management link. Treat a live management URL as private and do not publish its token.

Recurring Gift Updated is used for ordinary installment notifications, but it can also be sent after supported subscription edits. Its name is therefore not proof a payment occurred. The ordinary Updated sender skips ended subscriptions. Recurring Gift Ended is sent on the active-to-ended transition, including normal completion. The default Ended view does not automatically append the tax block. Reactivated is a failed/expired-to-active state-transition notice; inspect the associated payment rather than treating that label as proof of an additional charge.

In the current Updated-email view, a specified successful installment supplies donation-level tokens and the tax block. Without it, the view uses subscription/latest-successful-installment information. Automatic tax-block inclusion depends on school tax-receipt settings and duplicate-receipt/total-paid-change conditions, while custom templates can explicitly include tokens. Inspect the actual template, notification type and installment reference when an amount looks wrong. A recurring commitment is not the same amount as an individual payment or year-to-date giving.

Do not infer the complete setup/first-charge sequence for every processor from these labels, or classify all templates as receipts solely by whether their defaults contain a tax block. Support must check the actual successful transaction and the institution's approved receipt content.
