Require a designation

Open Online Giving → Forms → select the form → Giving Experience → Form Settings & Display → Designation Configuration and make the intended designations available. Then open Giving Experience → Form Builder, add or select the Designation field, mark it required, and save. Preview the actual donor form to confirm a selection is required.

For one designation on every gift, offer that fund, mark it pre-selected, and keep the required Designation field on the form. Settings alone are insufficient, even with a single fund.

In the older Designation Settings interface, use Require donors to choose a designation, confirm the prompt and save. If prompted to add the designation field, add it in Form Builder rather than disabling the requirement. These controls affect future submissions, not historical gifts or unrelated import paths.

In Form Builder, choose Designation under Standard Field, set Required to Yes, and click Add Field when adding it. For an existing field, edit it, set Required to Yes, and click Update Field.
