Donation total when a donor covers fees

The donor's total payment is the base gift plus the optional donor-covered fee. For a $100 gift and $3.20 coverage, the total charged is $103.20. The separately recorded coverage amount is $3.20 and the base gift is $100. Do not add the fee a second time to a total that already includes it.

The fee checkbox can be unchecked before submission. Coverage does not change the school's contracted processing rate or mean that the institution has no processing charges.

For standard campaign totals, the gift and donor-covered fee both contribute to dollars raised. The selected designation receives the base gift; the coverage is not automatically added proportionally to every designation or tier total in GiveCampus. The native NXT export has its own proportional split treatment.

The total payment is not necessarily the net amount deposited into the bank. Actual processing charges, refunds, reversals, adjustments and settlement timing must be reconciled using the deposit report. The donor-covered amount is not the processor's deducted fee.
