Format a four-level designation hierarchy for CSV import

In GiveCampus giving forms, available controls depend on your permissions and the interface used by your institution.

Use the supplied designation/group CSV template rather than columns named Level 1 through Level 4. Required headers are name, backend_identifier, write_in, group, program_priority, group_name1, group_name2, group_name3 and description. Required headers do not mean every cell must be populated.

Each row names the item being created in name; parent group names go in group_name1 through group_name3, from outermost to immediate parent. Create parent groups before their children. For a hierarchy School → Program → Department → Fund, put School on a group row with no parent, Program on a group row with School as group_name1, Department on a group row with School/Program as group_name1/group_name2, and Fund on a non-group row with all three ancestors. Mark group rows true and fund rows false; populate the other template columns as appropriate for the actual designations. Do not skip an intermediate parent column. Parent names must match the existing/new hierarchy, and existing group nodes can be flagged as already present rather than updated by re-upload. Review validation results before relying on the imported structure.
