Test promo codes with a published test event

In GiveCampus Events, available controls depend on your permissions and the interface used by your institution.

Preview is useful for reviewing content but does not expose the ordinary promo-code and payment panel used by an actual registration. To verify a code:

1. Clone the event from its Overview/Other Actions into a clearly labeled test event.
2. Review dates, tickets and promo-code settings on the clone; confirm the code exists there with the intended discount, time window and scope.
3. Publish the clone and open its public registration link. Select representative tickets/activities/add-ons, enter the code at review and inspect the adjusted total. Applying a code can consume usage because limits count associated registrations, not only paid orders.
4. If completing checkout is necessary, understand whether the remaining amount will create a real charge and use the institution's approved test-payment/refund process. A live clone is not a sandbox.
5. When finished, archive the test event through the supported lifecycle controls, handling any payments or cancellation prerequisites first. Make the corresponding validated changes on the production event.

Do not delete financial records to clean up a test, assume Preview tests payment behavior, or assume changing the clone changes the original.
