Find identifier normalization controls and interpret the examples

For GiveCampus constituent data and imports.

Open School Dashboard → Data Import → Data Management → Constituent Identifier Settings. Constituent Identifier Length and Update Setting are separate from the search-by-ID control on Constituents.

The screen explains: a shorter identifier receives leading zeroes; extra leading zeroes may be removed from an identifier longer than the configured length; a longer identifier that does not start with zero is unchanged. With length 10, 12345 becomes 0000012345. Length 0 removes leading zeroes; a blank setting leaves identifiers unchanged during import. These are materially different choices.

Changing the setting applies to existing IDs as well as later imports. The screen withholds the control while an update/import blocks it and may warn that records differing only in leading zeroes will merge. Review that impact before changing it.
