Early-bird pricing versus expiring promo codes

Open Events → Events → select your event → Edit Event → Ticketing for ticket prices and visibility. Use Edit Event → Promo Codes for time-limited discounts.

The ticket editor has one price rather than a future price schedule, and changing price is blocked once issued qualifying tickets exist. A time-limited promo code can implement a temporary discount: set its start/end dates and discount, then let it expire at the intended cutoff. That code is entered at checkout; its form exposes whether to include activities/add-ons, not an arbitrary list of eligible ticket types. It is therefore not an automatic per-ticket-type October 1 price increase. Confirm the desired audience/scope before using a promo code, and do not assume the code only discounts selected types.
