Gift Amount versus Designation Amount

Gift Amount is the total gift. Designation Amount is the portion allocated to that designation. For a gift fully assigned to one designation, the two can be equal; mapping the same source amount or supplying an equivalent allocation column is appropriate for that case. For split gifts, use the actual allocation amount for each designation, not the full total repeated on each split. Review a sample imported gift and its allocations. When the import matches designations by backend identifier, the designation must already exist. Use the separate designation CSV upload if it is missing. Uploading the designation catalog before a dependent mapping is a valid sequence; inspect the selected import's mapping rather than assuming all import paths have the same dependency.
