Match or challenge

This article covers GiveCampus campaign administration. Available controls can vary between the classic and redesigned campaign interfaces.

In the campaign's Matches & Challenges area, choose New Offline Match or Challenge for funds committed outside GiveCampus. A match increases matching dollars as qualifying gifts arrive. For a pooled dollar-for-dollar offer, choose a match, Per Dollar, 1 per dollar donated, the agreed maximum pool, and the agreed start/end dates. An unrestricted offer should not accidentally be directed to a class, affiliation, email list or designation. A pooled record represents one offer; it does not create separate gift records for every person funding that pool. Reconcile the funders separately according to the school's gift-recording process.

A challenge unlocks its award when a donor or dollar threshold is reached. For an award of 100,000 after 200 qualifying donors, use a donor challenge with that award and threshold, not a per-dollar match. The standard form's automatic triggers are Donors and Dollars. It does not offer an automatic sports-score or other external-event trigger. An external milestone needs an organizer-managed process; do not invent an integration or substitute donations for goals scored.
