How do I manually complete an offline challenge?
When manually updating an ordinary challenge to complete it, you must update both its qualifying progress and its Value. Changing Nummatches (sometimes referred to as nummatch) to the successful level alone does not automatically complete the challenge or set the award dollars.
For example, if the qualifying donor progress now meets the challenge threshold and the challenge award is $200, enter the correct total qualifying progress in Nummatches and 200 in Value, then save. If four donors were added to existing progress, use the resulting total progress, not just 4. Value is the challenge award, not the campaign’s total raised. If Value remains $0, the manual progress change alone does not add the $200 award to the campaign total.
- Open Matches & Challenges and edit the correct offline challenge using its pencil icon.
- Under Match/Challenge Information, confirm the challenge’s threshold (Per unit) and award maximum (Max).
- Update Nummatches to the correct qualifying progress. When the threshold has been met, also enter the full challenge award in Value.
- Save, then verify the saved progress, Value, and campaign total. Allow the public display to refresh after the correct values have been saved.
Waiting for a page refresh does not replace entering Value. Do not add a second offline gift for an award already represented by this challenge. If Value is unavailable or locked, or the challenge was created online by a donor, contact Support with the challenge ID and intended correction. Winner Takes All challenges use a separate winner-approval workflow.
What do the fields mean?
This article covers GiveCampus campaign administration. Available controls can vary between the classic and redesigned campaign interfaces.
For an offline offer, the school-facing donation screen exposes Match/Challenge Information. Review before saving:
- Match/Challenge Type: Donor or Dollar.
- Per unit: the matching amount per eligible donor/dollar for a match; the donor/dollar threshold for a challenge.
- Nummatches: donors matched for a match; donor/dollar progress for a challenge.
- Value: earned matching dollars for a match. For an ordinary challenge, normal automatic processing sets Value to the award maximum when the qualifying threshold is reached. When completing a challenge through a manual progress edit, you must enter that award amount in Value yourself; Nummatches alone does not set it.
- Max: maximum matching funds or challenge award, editable for offline offers.
- Direction fields and start/end dates: which gifts qualify and the offer window.
Value is not the campaign's total raised. Entering total fundraising dollars there can overstate matching dollars. The screen disables Value after payment processing completes. Changing a progress number is not the same as associating a particular gift with the offer's detailed report. Review any manual adjustment with support when auditability, prior processing or completed offers are involved. Do not assume that changing criteria retroactively rebuilds ordinary offers: Automatic rebuilding is documented for winner-takes-all challenges, not ordinary offers.
