Adjust campaign counts without changing a processed payment

In the campaign Offline Gifts area, the interface offers Adjust Overall Donor/Dollar & Affiliation Counts. Authorized administrators can add positive or negative donor and dollar adjustments. These are separate adjustment records: they do not change the original paid contribution, refund a payment, or turn it into a matching offer. Anonymity is also separate from excluding dollars from totals.

Before adjusting, reconcile the actual records and intended result. The interface warns that changing overall donor totals without corresponding affiliation, class-year, designation or geographic corrections can leave breakdowns and leaderboards inaccurate. An adjustment to overall dollars does not mean that an original gift will disappear from feeds, reports or integrations. Do not assume preservation or removal from a particular export without checking that export.

Adjustment creation invokes matching-offer processing. Eligibility depends on the adjustment and offer; some restrictions exclude it. Therefore do not assume an adjustment is isolated from match/challenge progress or use negative adjustments as a universal way to reverse an unlocked challenge. The challenge processing can award a met threshold, but does not provide a general re-lock operation when progress falls below it.

For an already-paid gift that the donor now wants used as a matching/challenge commitment, ask support to reconcile the original payment, consent, existing credit, intended offline offer, donor totals and all relevant breakdowns before applying a correction. The school-facing online editor does not provide a Convert to Challenge command. Creating another online commitment can create an additional payment obligation; an offline offer and an offset are not an automatic conversion. Confirm the correct adjustment against the actual gift and donor-counting rules before changing campaign totals.
