Use password recovery for the correct GiveCampus native account. School SSO credentials are managed by the school identity provider, so resetting a native password does not repair an SSO identity association or reset the institutional password.
For an invalid/expired reset link, request a fresh message and use the latest complete link. The current native reset configuration allows 48 hours, but a generic invalid-token message does not confirm the exact reason a particular link failed. Do not paste reset links or passwords into a support ticket.
The reset flow uses privacy-preserving responses. A success message does not prove that the supplied email identifies a user or that email reached the inbox. Check the exact invited email, spam/quarantine and actual delivery status with support rather than repeatedly creating accounts.
An unconfirmed non-guest user must complete account confirmation. A password-recovery request can also resend confirmation instructions and explains that confirmation comes first. Granting an administrator role alone is not proof that signup was confirmed. The confirmation flow refreshes linked pending administrator associations before routing to a school. In training/sandbox cases, verify that signup, confirmation and role assignment all refer to the intended environment; do not assume that account changes synchronize across environments.
Volunteer or donor receives no password-reset email
Use Forgot your password? for the exact email attached to the native GiveCampus account, then check spam/junk and institutional quarantine. If the account has not been confirmed, follow the account-confirmation message first and then use the latest password-reset message. A reset success notice intentionally does not reveal whether that email has an account. If no message arrives, ask Support to verify the account and delivery and have institutional IT check filtering; creating repeated replacement accounts can complicate access.
For a donor who only needs to update an eligible recurring gift, an authorized administrator can use Recurring Subscriptions → Send Donor Link to Modify for the correct gift. This sends a private link to the gift's payer email and can avoid blocking the gift update on account-password recovery. See recurring gift management for processor, permission and state restrictions. Keep the management link private; it does not reset the donor's password or repair unrelated volunteer access.
