To stop a fundraising campaign from accepting new gifts while keeping its results page visible, update the campaign’s end date and time to the current date and time, then submit/save the change. This ends the campaign and locks in its donor and dollar totals through the normal campaign-completion process. You do not need to take down the results page or hide the statistics.
- Open the campaign’s settings and go to Campaign Setup → Basics.
- Find End date and set both the date and time to now, using the time zone shown in the settings.
- Submit/save the change.
- Allow campaign completion to process, then check that the public campaign page shows the completed campaign and its results.
In the newer interface, use Details → Campaign dates → Campaign end. Set End date, enable End at a specific time if needed, set End time to now, and select Update dates. Selecting today’s date without the current time may leave the campaign open until the configured end time.
Changing the school’s “Make a Gift” redirect does not close the campaign. Hiding statistics or the countdown only changes the display, and reaching the fundraising goal alone does not stop giving. End the campaign rather than archiving it when you want visitors to continue seeing its results.
Completion is processed in the background. Allow completion and any gifts already in progress to finish processing before treating the displayed totals as final. “Locked in” refers to the completed campaign’s saved totals; it does not prevent later authorized offline gift additions, removals, or corrections from recalculating those totals.
This article covers GiveCampus campaign administration. Available controls can vary between the classic and redesigned campaign interfaces.
Do not assume that all unmet challenges unlock when a campaign closes. The successful-campaign processing fills an unfulfilled offer to its maximum when its full-amount commitment is enabled. For online offers it queues applicable positive-value checkout, or cancellation of a zero-value authorization; offline offers update their designation data without charging a card. Unsuccessful-campaign processing differs.
Before closing, inspect each offer's type, progress, remaining award, full-amount option, dates and payment state, and resolve intended corrections with support. A completion label or queued job does not prove successful payment. Do not universally advise reopening or editing captured commitments without checking the actual state.
