Manage the school-wide option list at Online Giving > School-Level Settings > Affiliations. Then open the campaign or Giving Form at Giving Experience > Form Settings & Display and select the affiliations that should appear. The donor sees the options in the configured order, and the field can be optional or required.
An affiliation category can be configured to Allow Multiple and given a per-category selection limit from 1 through 10. That is not a universal cap on all affiliation categories combined. On a public campaign, a donor who chooses more than one affiliation is included in each selected affiliation's count. Because each displayed affiliation percentage uses the campaign's donor total as its denominator, the affiliation percentages can add to more than 100%; this represents overlapping affiliations, not extra donors.
Affiliation may represent alumni, parent, student, faculty/staff, friend, or another institution-defined relationship. Class year is often collected separately, so do not replace a required class-year field with affiliation unless that matches the institution's data design.
To include affiliation in output, add the relevant affiliation column under the form or campaign's reporting settings or in Online Giving > Reporting > Custom Reports. Preview the form and run a small test report before launch to verify both collection and export.
