Checkout Social Proof Messages ("You're officially part of something")
Quick answer
The message "You're officially part of something special with X other people" appears on the thank you page after a donation is completed. It is hardcoded in the system and cannot be removed or customized through the admin interface. The message only appears under specific conditions.
Where and when this message appears
- It appears on the thank you page after a donor completes a gift (not during checkout).
- It is shown only when the campaign has more than one donor, the campaign is not a giving form, and the contribution is not a cryptocurrency donation.
Can I remove or customize this message?
There are two variants of the social proof message on the thank you page:
The donor-count variant – displayed on campaign thank you pages. This message, which reads "You're officially part of something special with X other people," is hardcoded and cannot be altered through the admin interface.
The school-name variant – shown on standalone giving form thank you pages. This variant displays as "Thank you for your generous gift! You're officially part of something special at [school name]." It appears when a non-cryptocurrency donation is made and no custom Form Text has been set on the Post-Payment Form tab. If you add custom Form Text there, it replaces the default social proof message entirely.
Note: Although the social proof message itself on campaign pages cannot be changed, the heading above it (which defaults to "Thank you for your generosity!") can be customized by editing the Form Heading field on the Post-Payment Form tab (up to 100 characters).
What this means for administrators
The message appears in two variants:
-
For campaigns where donor count is available, the thank you page displays either:
- "You're officially part of something special with X other person" (if there is one additional donor) or
- "You're officially part of something special with X other people" (if there are two or more additional donors).
Both message variants are hardcoded and cannot be removed or customized through the admin interface.
- It will appear on the thank you page for campaigns (not giving forms) when the specified conditions are met.
- When testing or reviewing donor experiences, expect this message as part of the standard thank you page display.
Common scenarios and clarifications
- If you preview a campaign and complete a test gift (and the campaign has multiple donors), you will see this message on the thank you page.
- The message does not appear on standalone giving forms or when only 0 or 1 donor has contributed.
Suggested wording when explaining to stakeholders
If asked about the message, you can say:
- "The thank you page includes a built-in message that highlights donor participation. It isn’t configurable from the admin dashboard and will display under certain conditions."
