Troubleshooting Navigation Issues When You're Stuck on GiveCampus Pages
If you’re having trouble navigating to your admin tools from GiveCampus pages, use the direct URLs below to reach your administrative areas quickly.
quick way back: go directly to your admin URL
Paste one of the URLs below into a new browser tab and replace [SchoolName] with your school’s slug.
General admin URL: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/[area]
Online Giving dashboard: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/dashboard
Outreach: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/outreach/draft
Events: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/events
Volunteer Management: https://www.givecampus.com/vms/[SchoolName]/admin/notifications
finding your [SchoolName]
Use the value shown in any working GiveCampus admin URL (for example, givecampus). If you have visited an admin page before, your browser history should display it.
if direct URLs still don’t work
Clear your browser cache and cookies.
Try using an incognito or private browsing window to bypass cache issues.
If the incognito window works, clear the site data for givecampus.com in your regular window and try the URL again.
best practices to avoid getting stuck
Bookmark your primary admin dashboards using these direct URLs instead of relying on public pages.
Open a new tab with your bookmarked admin URL after browsing public pages to re-establish your session.
If you frequently switch between admin and public content, consider using a separate browser profile or an incognito window for public browsing.
troubleshooting scenarios
If you’re redirected back to a public page after logging in, open a new tab and paste the relevant direct URL for the area you need (Outreach, Events, Online Giving, or Volunteer Management), then clear your cache and cookies.
If only Volunteer Management appears unreachable, go directly to: https://www.givecampus.com/vms/[SchoolName]/admin/notifications.
Once you’re back on your admin dashboard, update your bookmarks with the direct URL so you can access it with one click next time.
Event page redirects and unexpected page landings
If you’re redirected to a public event page (for example, a branded event) instead of your admin dashboard when accessing admin tools, follow these steps:
-
Use direct admin URLs – Open a new browser tab and paste one of the direct URLs from the quick way back section:
-
Clear browser data – Clear your browser’s cache and cookies completely, then try the direct URL again.
-
Test in private browsing – Open an incognito or private browsing window to bypass cached data.
-
If private browsing works – In your regular browser, clear the site data for givecampus.com (via your browser’s site or storage settings) and reload your bookmarked URL.
quick shortcut from a public event page: use the admin banner's event settings button
When you visit a public event page while logged in as an administrator, a yellow admin banner appears at the top. This banner contains an Event Settings button that takes you directly to that event’s admin panel—bypassing the admin dashboard altogether.
Where to find the banner and button
- The banner and Event Settings button appear on the public event page at: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/events/[event-permalink].
- The button is visible only if your account has admin access to the event.
Direct admin URLs as alternatives
- Events admin list: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/events. Use this page to view all events and click an event name for its detail page.
- Specific event admin panel: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/events/[event-id].
- School-wide event reports: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/events/custom_reports for custom reporting and management.
If the Event Settings button is missing or you cannot access an event:
- Ensure you are signed in with the account that has event admin rights.
- If the button is not visible, open the specific event admin URL (https://www.givecampus.com/schools/[SchoolName]/admin/events/[event-id]) in a new tab, or access it via the Events admin list.
Why this matters
Using the Event Settings button offers a quick, direct route from a public event page to its corresponding admin panel. This shortcut is ideal when you want to jump straight into editing settings, emails, or registrations without navigating through the main admin dashboard.
Prevention tips
- Bookmark the direct admin URLs instead of navigating through public pages.
- Use a separate browser profile for admin tasks to keep admin and public browsing separate.
- For multiple GiveCampus accounts, bookmark each account’s specific direct admin URL.
