Overview
The Joint Gift field only appears as editable in the admin donation edit interface when it's enabled in your donation form where that gift was made. If you can't see or edit the Joint Gift field for a particular donation, it either means the field wasn't available on the form, or a setting is preventing it from appearing:
What This Means for Gift Administration
When the Joint Gift field is properly enabled:
Donors can enter joint gift information during the donation process
Joint gifts will count as two donors toward campaign totals and participate in email notifications, matches, and challenges
Admins can edit both the Joint Donor Name field and the Joint Year field when reviewing donations.
If the edit option is missing, it means the Joint Gift field is not enabled. You can enable it in one of two ways:
- School-wide: Go to Online Giving → School-Level Settings → Donation Form and check the Joint Gift box under the Data collection fields section. This enables the field for all of your institution's donation forms by default.
- Per campaign or giving form: Enable the field on a specific campaign or giving form. Even if the school-wide setting is off, donations made through a form with the field enabled will allow editing.
Remember to save your changes after enabling the field.
If you need to add joint gift information to donations made before this field was enabled, contact support for assistance with manual updates.
