Overview
The Tiered Advocacy Link Builder helps schools and advocates quickly generate advocacy tracking links for tiered landing pages. It replaces the manual workaround of maintaining spreadsheets that map tiered page URLs to advocacy IDs.
With this feature, schools can share a single page where advocates can:
- Choose which tiered landing page they want to advocate for.
- Generate a unique tracking link for that specific tier.
Before you start
To use the Tiered Advocacy Link Builder, you must:
- Load advocates into the campaign first. (This is required for link generation.)
- This feature must be enabled for your school. Please reach out to support@givecampus.com if you're not seeing this option.
-
This feature is feature-flagged and must be enabled for your school before the link builder can be used. It is not a self-service toggle in the admin UI.
-
If the feature is not enabled, visiting the /advocacy-link-builder URL on a campaign will redirect back to the campaign’s main page. If you or an advocate land on the campaign page instead of the builder, the missing feature flag is likely the cause.
clarifying redirect symptom and next steps
-
When the Tiered Advocacy Link Builder feature is not enabled, visiting the /advocacy-link-builder URL on a campaign immediately redirects you back to the campaign’s main page. This redirect is the only visible symptom that the feature flag is disabled.
-
The feature is enabled centrally by GiveCampus; it is not available as a self-service toggle in your admin UI. School administrators cannot activate it on their own.
-
If you or an advocate are redirected from the /advocacy-link-builder URL, confirm that the campaign’s tiered landing pages are published and that advocates are loaded into the campaign. If these prerequisites are met, the feature must be enabled for your school through your regular support channels.
Quick testing checklist:
- Use the campaign’s givecampus.com URL and append
/advocacy-link-builderexactly (for example: https://www.givecampus.com/schools/your-school/your-campaign/advocacy-link-builder). - Verify that the campaign’s tiered landing pages are published and that advocates are loaded into the campaign.
- If the URL still redirects after these checks, the feature flag is not enabled.
-
-
A GiveCampus administrator must enable this feature via a centralized feature flag. Administrators should request enablement rather than expect a local admin toggle.
-
Once enabled, the /advocacy-link-builder URL opens the Link Builder page, allowing advocates to enter their email, select a tiered landing page, and generate tracking links as documented above.
-
Quick troubleshooting if advocates are redirected back to the campaign page:
- Ensure the campaign’s tiered landing pages are published and visible.
- Confirm that potential advocates are loaded into the campaign.
- Verify that the feature flag is enabled for your school.
Admin enablement, redirects, and what to expect
How advocates generate their tracking link
- Start with your campaign URL.
- Add
/advocacy-link-builderto the end of the campaign link.
Example:
https://www.givecampus.com/schools/GiveCampusUniversity/givingchooseday/advocacy-link-builder
- On the Link Builder page, the advocate enters their email.
- The advocate selects the tiered landing page they want to promote. Not seeing the page you want? Make sure it is published!
- The page generates a unique tracking link for that tiered page.
What happens if an advocate is not yet loaded?
If an advocate’s email is not already loaded into the campaign, they will be prompted to create an account or log in. Once they do, GiveCampus will add them as an advocate for the campaign and redirect them back to the Link Builder so they can finish generating their link.
FAQs and Limitations
Can one advocate create multiple links (for multiple tiered pages)?
Yes. An advocate can create multiple advocacy links for different tiered landing pages, and the links will work accurately.
Does this support “auto-fill designation + advocacy tracking” (non-tiered designation links)?
Not at this time. Today, this feature is for tiered landing page + advocacy-specific tracking, not for building links that auto-select a designation on a standard giving form.
Does this work with Branded URLs?
Not currently. This is a known limitation. If a school uses a Branded URL, the branded-domain version may not work, but the givecampus.com URL should.
Why is it only accessible via a URL right now?
This feature is intentionally feature-flagged and currently accessed via the link parameter while feedback is gathered. Longer-term improvements may include linking from the Advocacy Dashboard and adding additional workflows for sign-up and admin-generated links.
Recommended rollout approach
- Load your potential advocates into the campaign.
- Share the
/advocacy-link-builderURL with advocates.
