What happens if I include 'Joint Gift' on the post payment form?

Joint gift donors are not included in email notifications. For matches and challenges, joint gifts typically count as two donors, and the secondary donor is included in match or challenge progress in most cases. The only exception is when a match or challenge is directed to a specific class year: if the joint partner’s class year is provided and does not match the targeted year, only the primary donor counts.

Payment details—including match, challenge, and email notifications—are finalized before the post-payment form is displayed. Any Joint Gift field placed on the post-payment form will not affect these settings. The joint donor will not be counted toward match or challenge progress, nor will they receive notification emails.

To include joint donor details for match, challenge, or email purposes, add the Joint Gift field to the pre-payment form. For Campaign-type giving forms, GiveCampus displays a warning if you try to add a Joint Gift (or Affiliation) field to the post-payment form, giving you a chance to cancel the change.
