GC Intelligence: Smart Suggested Ask Amounts ✨

Smart Suggested Ask amounts allow schools to generate ask amounts tailored to each person. Powered by AI, GiveCampus uses donor demographics, previous giving patterns, and wealth indicators to generate smart suggested amounts for each of your constituents.Generating ask amounts for your constituents used to take weeks or months, now it can be done in a matter of minutes.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Upload a list of constituents
  2. Determine your Ask Strategy (conservative, neutral, aggressive) and how many asks you’d like to generate for each person.
  3. Generate Asks

Once you’ve generated Ask Amounts, you can determine how you’d like to leverage them in your strategy

  1. Export Ask Amounts
  2. Ask Amounts will automatically generate Personalization links for each constituent, allowing you to tailor the suggested ask amounts on a Giving Form or Campaign to each individual
  3. Send Personalization links out easily via GC Outreach
Note: Smart Suggested Ask Amounts are included as part of the Advanced Plan or Professional Edition. If you don't see the option within your Online Giving Dashboard > Personalization, reach out to your GiveCampus Partner Success Manager about upgrading your GiveCampus package. 

Step 1: Upload Data via School Level Data Importer

Before getting started with Smart Suggested Ask Amounts, you’ll need to upload data via GiveCampus’ School Level Data Importer. The more data shared, the more accurate the Ask Amounts will be. The following data points are required to be uploaded before generating ask amounts:

  • First
  • Last
  • Email
  • At least 5 years of giving history including gifts from the last 6 months
  • Country
  • City
  • State
  • Zipcode

We highly recommend if you are just starting out with the school level data importer to use our templates found in the article above. 

 

Step 2: Upload Constituent IDs & Generate Ask Amounts

Now that you’ve uploaded data via the School Level Data Importer, you can upload a simple list of constituent identifiers for individual’s you’d like to generate ask amounts for.

  • Visit your Online Giving Dashboard > Personalization > Smart Ask Amounts
  • Click ‘Create New Smart Suggested Ask Amount Segment’
  • Name your segment and upload a list of constituent IDs
    • The file should be a CSV file with a single column header called ‘external_id’
    • If your file has more than just this column, the uploader will ignore all of those - so feel free to upload a .csv with the list of people even if it's something that was exported or used elsewhere
  • Select your Ask Amount strategy:
    • Aggressive: Ask Amounts aimed at upgrades
      • Great for Alumni in reunion years, loyal donors, and parents
    • Conservative: Ask Amounts aimed at retention
      • Great for periodic donors, never donors, and young alumni
    • Neutral: Ask Amounts aimed at striking a balance between upgrades and retention
  • Select how many ask amounts you’d like to include in your ask array
    • Choose between 1-6
  • Save Settings & Generate Ask Amounts
    • Note: Ask Amounts can take between 5-20 minutes to generate depending on the size of your constituent list.
 

Step 3: Leverage Smart Ask Amounts in Fundraising Appeals

Now you’ve generates Smart Ask Amounts for different segments of your community — time to leverage them to optimize and personalize your fundraising strategy.

In addition to the ask amounts being available to export, GiveCampus will automatically generate personalization links for each constituent, customizing the suggested ask amount on your forms and campaigns for each individual.

Here are three ways to leverage ask amounts:

  • Export:
    • Once you generate ask amount(s), you can export the amounts to add in your CRM, leverage in direct mail appeals, or use in 1:1 conversations with your donors.
  • Create an Outreach directly from your list and generated asks & add these personalized links in any CTAs in your email
    • Once you have the generated ask amounts and have reviewed them, simply click the "Create Outreach" button on the page to generate a drafted email outreach with that set of constituents as the recipient list on the email. You can build your email, adjust your recipient list,  
    • Generating ask amounts will automatically generate personalization tokens that can easily be merged into GC Outreach emails. This will allow you to easily send emails to thousands of constituents, customizing the ask for each one. Select this using the GC Link Builder icon 🔗 in the top of the page and finding the name of your smart asks segment in the dropdown. 
  • Export Personalization Links & Tokens: If you are not using GC Outreach, you can still export personalization links including the Smart Suggested Ask Amounts!
