Steps to make a configuration change for your GiveCampus Volunteer Management System.
Throughout your time using GiveCampus Volunteer Management, new volunteer opportunities may arise, important new data becomes available, or you want to iterate the data based on volunteer feedback. Whatever your reason, we built GC VM to ensure it could be responsive to current needs. In order to do that, a configuration change is often required.
As a reminder, your configuration is the code written to search for, read, and import the files you send to GiveCampus via SFTP. This code is built during your GC VM implementation, and can be adjusted every 90 days (if needed) throughout your partnership.
Here are the steps for a configuration change:
- Email support@givecampus.com and share the changes to the files you plan to make (add a column to the constituent file, starting to send an Activity file, etc.).
- GiveCampus pauses your importer so you can send the updated files via SFTP .
- School sends updated files and lets GiveCampus team know.
- GiveCampus Support builds request with Engineering team.
- Engineers updates the code and manually import the most recent file.
- GiveCampus checks in with school to make sure all looks good and close out requests.
A configuration change can take up to 10-15 business days depending on the depth of the updates made and other planned work. Because this practice can take time, we recommend that you make all desired updates at once and think strategically about this timing!
