Yes! GiveCampus provides a number of options for customizing your donation reports. Below are the main ways you can tailor your reports to meet your needs.
1. Make Changes to Your Default Report
In Online Giving, go to Reporting > Custom Reports. From there, you can:
- Select or unselect fields
- Drag to reorder columns
These changes apply to both the default and expanded default reports.

2. Create Custom Reports
You can build your own custom report templates with exactly the columns you need in the order you want. Many schools create several templates to meet the needs of different offices or administrators.

3. Prepare Your Data for Reporting
Certain setup steps make it easier to import donation data into your CRM or donor database. These include:
- Uploading database ID numbers to GiveCampus so donors are automatically matched
- Adding, removing, reordering, or renaming columns
- Assigning a unique ID to each campaign
- Assigning backend IDs to each designation
Let’s walk through each of these steps.
3.1 Match Donors to Their Database ID Numbers
You can load a simple mapping of email addresses to CRM IDs into GiveCampus. This adds the constituent_identifier column to your donation reports.
Option A: Upload via Online Giving
- Go to Online Giving > Reporting > Settings > Constituent Identifiers
- Upload a .CSV file (not .XLS) with two columns:
-
Constituent_ID– identifier in your database -
Email– address linked to that ID - Multiple emails for one ID? Add each as its own row.
- One email tied to multiple IDs? They will display in the report, separated by commas.
-

- Invalid entries will be flagged in real time.
- Once uploaded, you can view and search your full list of identifiers under Current Identifiers.
- Be sure to add the constituent_identifier column to your report settings.
Pro Tip: Refresh IDs before major campaigns to ensure accuracy. Uploading a new file will automatically deduplicate repeated combinations.
Option B: Upload via the School Dashboard Data Importer
If you use the Data Importer, IDs will refresh through that upload.
Option C: Upload via Volunteer Management
If you use GiveCampus Volunteer Management, IDs are automatically enabled from the VMS. No extra steps are needed unless you want to add additional IDs.
3.2 Add, Remove, Reorder, or Rename Report Columns
In Online Giving > Reporting > Settings:
-
Rename a column:
- Scroll to Donation Report Columns
- Select the column
- Enter a new name
- Click Create Report Custom Alias
-
Add, remove, or reorder columns:
- Scroll to Select and Order Your Report Columns
- Check/uncheck or drag fields
- Click Update Donation Report Columns
This applies to your default report, expanded report (Additional Fields), and custom reports.
3.3 Assign a Unique Backend Identifier for Campaigns
You can associate a backend identifier (e.g. appeal code) with every gift to a campaign or form. This will appear in the unique_identifier column.
How to set it up:
- Go to your campaign or form settings
- Open Forms (or Campaign Forms)
- Scroll to Internal Reporting
- Enter the unique ID
- Save your changes
- Make sure the unique_identifier column is in your report settings
3.4 Add Designation IDs
At the school level, you can create a picklist of designations under School-Level Settings > Designations.
While adding or uploading designations, you can assign a Backend ID (often a fund code or GL code). This isn’t required, but it helps streamline gift entry and CRM imports.
To use backend IDs, be sure your report settings include:
-
designation_backend(for single gifts or Designation Row Reports) -
designation_backend_1–5(for split gifts)
✅ With these tools, you can ensure your donation reports are accurate, consistent, and tailored to your institution’s needs.
