Benchmarking on GiveCampus - assessing your performance against peer schools
At GiveCampus, we are committed to creating the best products that make it easier for schools to raise more dollars from more donors. To do this, we rely on data and benchmarking to identify areas of strength and opportunity to improve our fundraising tools. We believe that our partners also benefit from measuring performance and metrics against peer institutions so we offer a benchmarking dashboard.
How should I use benchmarking?
Benchmarking provides a snapshot of how your metrics compare to peer organizations and general trends within your peer group. It can provide insights into your current strengths and areas for improvement. Keep in mind that information within the benchmarking dashboard only represents activities that happen on GiveCampus or data shared with GiveCampus. It may not be representative of a team’s full fundraising efforts. Schools use GiveCampus differently meaning that their activities on GiveCampus may vary.
How do I access my Benchmarking dashboard?
The Benchmarking dashboard is available to school-level administrators. When you are logged into your GiveCampus account, select “School Dashboard” in the left navigation at the Account level. Once in the School Dashboard, select the “Benchmarking” tab to access the Benchmarking Dashboard.

What metrics does the benchmarking dashboard include?
On the main Benchmarking page, you will see several metrics that indicate the average performance of your peer group (gray box) against your individual performance (black line). Below are the metrics most partners will see:
- Total Dollars Raised Online: based on the last 12 months of gifts received through GiveCampus
- Average Online Gift Size: based on the last 12 months of gifts received through GiveCampus
- Active Recurring Gift: based on current GiveCampus recurring gift subscriptions
- Dollars Raised from Advocacy: available for SFP partners only - based on the last 12 months of gifts received through GiveCampus generated by advocates.
For schools that upload constituent and gift files into GiveCampus, you may see these additional metrics:
- Total Dollars Raised: includes both offline and online gifts for the last 12 months
- Average Gift Size: includes both offline and online gifts for the last 12 months
Can I get a more detailed view of these metrics?
Yes! If a metric is hyperlinked, you can click into a more detailed view for each benchmark (i.e. Total Dollars Raised Online). Within this view you will be able to zoom out to look at the monthly trends across your school type or your CASE District. You can also filter by individual peer groups (school type or CASE District) when available. Additionally, some schools who are within certain school ranking lists (such as the Top 100 National Universities) may see additional peer group filters present as well.

Who are the peer groups I am being benchmarked against?
On GiveCampus, your peer group is defined by your school type (e.g. K-12, Higher Ed (4-yr), Greek Organization) and CASE District. In most cases you will be compared to both groups; however, if your peer group is small, you may only be benchmarked against other schools of the same type.
If you believe your school type or CASE District is incorrect, please reach out to support@givecampus.com so we can update it.
Where does benchmarking data pull from?
Unless you are uploading constituent and gift files into GiveCampus via the school-level data importer, your benching metrics will only aggregate fundraising that occurred within GiveCampus over the past 12 months. Offline gifts entered for a Day of Giving, for example, will not be incorporated.
For schools that upload constituent and gift files into GiveCampus, additional metrics will be available for benchmarking “all giving.” Stay tuned for future updates and how to access them!
Can other schools see my individual metrics?
No. While you will be able to see your current metrics and totals, you will only see the averages of schools within your peer groups. We continue to have measures in place to ensure your data is protected.
