Datapoints is a powerful tool that allows you to define at a more granular level the information your volunteers can see. With Datapoints, you determine what your volunteers can and cannot see on a constituent's partial and full record on a role-by-role basis, not just at the school level.
How to Manage Datapoints
The Datapoints feature allows you to be very granular about what information your volunteers see on the partial record and full record; it also gives you the power to configure how the partial and full records appear based on the volunteer’s role. Perhaps you want your Executive Committee volunteers to be able to see more constituent information than your other standard volunteers; Datapoints makes this possible!

School-wide Datapoints Settings
From your GiveCampus Volunteer Management ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Constituent Records’ section, you will see a list of datapoints that you can display or hide from the partial record and/or the full record. To display a datapoint, check off the checkbox. The “Partial Record” column is for datapoints to include in the partial record (what a volunteer can see before they are assigned), and the “Full Record” column is for datapoints to include in the full record (what a volunteer can see after they are assigned). Once you make your selections, click “Save Datapoints” at the bottom of the page.
Making changes to your school-wide Datapoints settings determines what a school Administrator will see and also determines the initial default settings for any new roles that are created. To update Datapoints for an existing role however, please follow the steps below for ‘Role-by-Role’ Datapoints Settings.
Role-by-Role Datapoints Settings
The Role-specific Datapoints configuration will override the default school-wide settings that are set up from your ‘Settings’ page. This allows you to be even more specific with what data your volunteers see based on the role that they have.
From your GC VM ‘Roles’ tab, click on a Role, and click on the "Modify Datapoints" button in the top right. Similar to the ‘Settings’ page, you will see a list of datapoints that you can display or hide from the partial record and/or the full record by marking the checkboxes. Once you make your selections, click “Save Datapoints” at the bottom of the page.
Constituent Preview
The “Constituent Preview” page allows administrators to easily see an example of what a constituent’s partial record, full record, and snapshot looks like through the eyes of a volunteer with a specific role. When adjusting your datapoints for a role, we recommend using the Constituent Preview to cross-check and ensure that your Datapoints settings for that role align with your intended result.
To access the Constituent Preview, navigate to the 'Constituent Preview' tab on the left-hand sidebar. At the top of the page, select which the role you would like to preview, hit “Refresh” and then scroll to each section (Full Record, Partial Record, Snapshot) to see each page through that role’s eyes accordingly.
