Using VMS for Non-Fundraising Volunteers
Want to use the VMS for volunteers who aren't focused on fundraising? You can now create roles and experiences that better align with how these volunteers engage with your institution.
Key Enhancements
Below are five primary areas we've improved, along with quick how-to guides and links to additional resources:
1. Assignment Filters
Hide Filters
You can now control which filters are visible to volunteers based on their roles, helping them narrow down their assignment group (e.g., "has given," "has pledged").
- How to Hide Filters: Go to Role settings > What this role can do > check "Allow Volunteer to Filter Assignments" > choose filters to display.
Create Your Own Filter
You can create custom filters based on the data you send to GiveCampus, and these filters will update dynamically with new data.
- How to Create Custom Filters: Follow the steps above, then click "Create a new filter" or go to Settings > Assignments and click Create Custom Assignment Filters.
2. Assignment Reporting
Hide Reporting Tiles
Hide irrelevant reporting tiles on a role-by-role basis.
- How to Hide Reporting Tiles: Go to Role settings > What reporting can this role see > check "View Assignment Statistics" > select/deselect reporting tiles.
Create Your Own Reporting Tile
Create custom reporting tiles based on the data you provide.
- How to Create Custom Reporting Tiles: Follow the steps above for hiding reporting tiles, then click "Create a custom reporting tile" or go to Settings > Assignments and click Create Custom Reporting Tiles.
3. Class Year Statistics
Customize which statistics are displayed for different class years.
- How to Customize Class Year Stats: Follow the steps for hiding reporting tiles, then scroll down to "Show Class Year Stats" to customize these tiles.
4. Cohort & Affiliation Statistics
Display statistics at the cohort or affiliation level, not just by class year.
- How to Show Cohort & Affiliation Stats: Hide class year stats as described above, then select "Show Cohort and Affiliation Reporting" at the bottom of the "What reporting can this role see?" section. Customize the name (e.g., "Soccer Parents") and select the tiles and data to display.
5. Gift Notifications - Role Level
Turn off gift notifications on a role-by-role basis, even if a constituent in the volunteer's assignment group makes a gift that meets the Gift Configuration conditions.

How to Adjust Gift Notifications: Go to Role Settings > What notifications this role receives and choose whether to send gift notifications.
- Note: For partners using a GiveCampus fundraising product, this is also where you turn on/off pending gift notifications for specific roles.
