Being able to choose their assignments themselves is a great way to ensure your volunteers have the personal connection that provides for a much more effective fundraising ask. As such, GC Volunteer Management allows for Volunteers to request to be assigned to the individuals they choose! The steps below outline how a Volunteer can request specific Assignments.
Requesting an Assignment:
- Start at the "Search Constituents" tab
- Scroll through the list of constituents or search for a particular individual
- Use the "Advanced Search" option to search by information other than a constituent's name
- Under the "Status" column, constituents will have four different statuses: "Unselectable," "Assigned to Me," "Assign to Me", or "Request Assignment."
- Unselectable - the constituent may not be selected. A constituent may be marked as Unselectable for a variety of reasons. Most commonly the constituent will be marked "Unselectable" if the constituent is already paired with another Volunteer. They may also be either marked as Unselectable in the data files shared with GiveCampus for any reason (deceased, major gift prospect, etc.)
- Assigned to Me - volunteer is already paired with this constituent
- Assign to Me - the constituent is able to be selected and no Staff Handler approval is required
- Request Assignment - the constituent is able to be selected, but must request the pairing for approval by a Staff Handler.
- Once the Volunteer clicks "Request to Me", depending on the role settings, Volunteers may be prompted to give additional information about the requested assignment, which will then be submitted to administrators for approval. If a Volunteer has an "auto-assign" role permission, the button will say "Assign to Me" and the pairing will occur automatically.
