The resources section within GiveCampus Volunteer Management is an incredible way to save your team time and encourage your volunteers to login to the system. When your volunteers reach out saying 'Could you please send me our volunteer handbook for the 1 billionth time,' you can say 'Absolutely! Login to GC VM and check out the resources section for easy access! (and while you're there, send some emails!)'
Resource Best Practices:
- Make GC VM a One-Stop-Shop: Any information your volunteers might ask for should be housed within GC VM. This could be talking points about the Annual Fund, FAQs about reunion, your volunteer handbook, tips and tricks for using the GC VM, social media sharing graphics etc.
- Keep things Organized: Resources can be organized into resource categories such as Reunion Information, Fundraising Best Practices, Social Media Sharing Graphics, and How to Use GC VM. You want your resources to be comprehensive, and organizing resources into categories will help that not become overwhelming!
- Tailor Resources by Volunteer Role, Affiliation or Class Year: Like your email templates and announcements, resources can be tailored so they are only viewable by certain volunteers. Be thoughtful about which resources are relevant and important for different groups. For example, you might only expose your Reunion FAQs to your reunion class year volunteers or have information about academic schedules just for Parent Volunteers.
- Keep them Fresh: Be sure to check into your resources periodically and make sure they are up to date and still relevant. You can easily archive out of date resources or make a few tweaks to ensure the resources continue to be timely and helpful.
