Learn how to create a personalized registration experience based on affiliation, ticket type, activities, add-ons, and more!
With GC Events Pro, you have the ability to enhance the registration experience by dynamically presenting options based on the selection the user makes through Registration Paths.
What are registration paths?
Registration Paths allow you, as an admin, to tailor the registration experience based on user selections. This enables you to display specific tickets, activities, and add-ons relevant only to certain affiliations, keeping the registration process streamlined and user-friendly.
Registration Paths allow you, as an admin, to tailor the registration experience based on user selections. This enables you to display specific tickets, activities, and add-ons relevant only to certain affiliations, keeping the registration process streamlined and user-friendly.
Path Example Use Case: For a Reunion Weekend, you can offer tickets, activities, and add-ons exclusive to Faculty/Staff, Young Alumni, and Alumni General Admission.

Getting Started: Restricting Ticket Types
To create a registration path, you'll get started with a Restricted Ticket Type.
-
Create a Restricted Ticket Type:
Begin by selecting "Collect Affiliation Data" in the event settings' Details tab. This setting allows you to restrict ticket types based on affiliation (e.g., "Alumni") or a specific value (e.g., "Alumni 2014"). -
Choose Your Restriction Method:
-
Based Solely on the Registrant's Affiliation: Only the primary registrant needs to have the selected affiliation in order to view and register for the ticket type, both for themselves and their guests.
Note: Affiliation will be marked as required on the Registrant form. -
Based on Individual's Affiliation: Both the registrant and their guests must have the required affiliation to see/register for the ticket type.
Note: Affiliation will be required on both the Registrant and Guest forms.
-
Based Solely on the Registrant's Affiliation: Only the primary registrant needs to have the selected affiliation in order to view and register for the ticket type, both for themselves and their guests.
Path Example: You're creating the Faculty/Staff ticket, but this is only available for the registrant. You'd select Restrict Ticket Type > Based on individual's affiliation > Faculty/Staff.

Next Steps: Creating Restricted Activities and Add-Ons with Custom Fields
Next, you'll want to create the specific activities and add-ons that are exclusive to a certain constituent. You can also ask questions that pertain only to folks planning to attend these activities or who purchased the add-on.
-
Restricted Acitivites:
To create restricted activities, select "Restrict Activity Registration." This allows you to designate which registrants and guests can see these activities based on the ticket types selected during registration.
You can also ask activity-specific questions of registrants and guests by adding Custom Fields.
Note: You can establish Reusable Custom Fields within your Events Settings!
Path Example: Let's say there's a dinner exclusive to faculty and staff. You can create the activity and restrict it to the Faculty/Staff Ticket Type. If you need to know dietary restrictions for this dinner, you can add that as a custom field.

-
Restricted Add-ons:
Similarly, select "Restrict Add-on" to limit the visibility and purchase options for add-ons based on specific ticket types.
You can ask for relevant information by adding custom fields.
Path Example: At this Reunion event, Young Alumni can get on-campus housing. You could ask them for their dorm preference!

Putting It All Together: The Registration Path
By implementing restricted ticket types, activities, and add-ons, you create a tailored registration experience for your constituents.
Path Example: As a registrant, I select the Faculty/Staff affiliation.

This allows me to see the Faculty/Staff Ticket Type as available for purchase.

Because of that Event Ticket Type, I am able to choose to attend the restricted Faculty and Staff Appreciation Dinner. I also see the custom field question (in this case, dietary restrictions).

Next, I am able to choose the on-campus parking pass as an add-on, because it's available to all, and specify which garage I'll be using.

I can then complete my registration!
