Autofill links provide the ability to make the giving experience easier for donors by pre-populating fields on your Giving Form with information or inputs which you determine. Auto-fill links can come in handy for a variety of use-cases, from phonathon integrations to pre-populated website links. For highly personalized giving experience, check out the Personalization feature.
Creating an Autofill Link
Go to the Unique Tracking Links page with your Giving Form's settings and scroll down to the "Generate Autofill Links" section:
- Select the pre-form field you would like to auto-fill (i.e. payer_name).
- If you are autofilling a text field write in the information you’d like to include in this form (i.e. John Donor).
- If you are autofilling a checkbox field, write in “true”.
- If you are autofilling a dropdown field, write in the name of the dropdown option that you want to have pre-selected. The symbols and capitalization used in the written in must match the dropdown option exactly. For example, if the dropdown that you want to have selected is “Financial Aid”, typing in “financial aid” will not work.
- Designations can be entered using the backend ID instead of name. (you cannot fill the text portion of a 'write in' designation using an autofill link.
- If you are autofilling the state field write in the state abbreviation (i.e. NY).
- Add the auto-filled information to the url by clicking ‘Insert this field into the URL’.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for each additional field that you’d like to be featured.
- Copy the link you create and send it to the donor.

Autofill Link FAQs
What happens if I make a mistake while creating an autofill link?
If you are creating an autofill link and decide that you’d rather not pre-fill a certain field or your made a spelling mistake, no worries. By refreshing your page, the link will be reset and you’ll be able to start again.
Are autofill links saved?
No, autofill links are not saved within GiveCampus. Once you create a link using the autofill links feature, you will need to save it by copying and pasting it to share with your donor.
How do I preview an autofill link before sending it?
If you try to preview an autofill link while logged into your GiveCampus account, the link will automatically populate with your saved information (e.g. your name) instead of the information you’ve added to the url you created (e.g. the donor’s name). To see what an autofill link will look like when your donor receives it, you will need to take one of two actions:
- Copy the autofill link while logged into your GiveCampus account, open an incognito window, and paste the autofill link into the incognito window search bar.
- Copy the autofill link while logged into your GiveCampus account, log out of your GiveCampus account, and paste the autofill link into your browser’s search bar.
Can we use autofill links to pre-fill information on the payment and post-payment page?

YES! To combine autofill links with one of your unique tracking links, follow these steps:
- First, build an autofill parameter link (here we added an autofill designation)
- Next, take any unique tracking link
- Paste it in a browser and hit enter to get the fully extended link
- Add the "a=1234678" portion of the extended unique link URL to the end of the autofill parameter link
- Share that autofilled tracking link
*For Social Fundraising Campaigns, the link will be a direct path to the donation form!
