Empower Your Giving Forms with Customizable Fields
Creating a giving form that perfectly suits your needs is an easy task with our form builder. It puts you in the driver's seat, allowing you to design and organize fields to capture all the information you need from your donors. Whether you want to gather details before or after payment, our flexible system lets you decide the best time to ask for specific information.
Standard Fields: Simplify Your Form Creation
We understand that certain information is vital to every school's fundraising efforts. That’s why we've pre-loaded a selection of the 20 most common data points schools typically collect from their donors. These standard fields are ready to go—just pick the ones you need from options like Affiliations, Address, and Phone Number.
Adding a standard field is as simple as a click. You get to decide whether a field is required (yes or no) and where it should appear—before (pre-payment form) or after the payment (post-payment form) is made. Each standard field comes with a pre-set Field Type, Label, Placeholder, Help Text, and Report Column identifier, streamlining the process for you.
Pro-Tip: If you include the "Zipcode" and "Country" fields, and your donors are based in the U.S., our system will automatically populate the City and State columns in your reports—no extra work needed!

Custom Fields: Tailor-Made for Your Unique Needs
Need to ask something specific? Custom fields are your playground. These fields let you collect personalized information beyond the basics. Want to know a donor's t-shirt size or if they'd like the alumni magazine? Custom fields can make it happen. These fields give you the flexibility to ask the questions that matter most to your community.
Pro-Tip: The post-payment form is a great place to add your custom questions, especially if they are not required. Think - good to have but not mandatory to have information.

School Fields: Consistency Across Your Forms
For the fields you’ll use across multiple giving forms, school fields are your go-to. These are non-standard fields that, once created, will appear in your form builder for easy access on any future giving forms. You can set them up in the School-Level Settings within your Online Giving dashboard, ensuring consistency across all your reporting columns without needing to reinvent the wheel each time.

Organize with Ease
Our form builder doesn’t just give you the tools—it gives you control. You can easily customize the order of your fields to create a smooth and logical flow for your donors. Just click, hold, and drag the fields into the perfect sequence, whether it’s for the pre-payment or post-payment form. It’s all about creating an intuitive and user-friendly experience that aligns with your school’s unique needs. The affiliations field can't be moved, it is hard-coded to be the last field on the pre-payment form.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make a field that only appears if the donor has completed another field on the form?
Yes, you can create either a checkbox or a drop down selection that will trigger a text field to appear on the form. You cannot set fields to be dependent on other fields on the form, such as affiliation or designation selection.
Can I make a long form text box?
No, but the standard text field will allow up to 1024 characters to be entered. You can include multiple standard text fields on a form if needed.
How do I edit placeholder or help text on an existing field?
To update a typo or modify the prompt in a field’s placeholder or help text, use the Form Builder to edit the field directly.
Step-by-step — edit placeholder or help text
- Open the campaign or giving form you want to update and navigate to Giving Experience > Form Builder in the campaign settings menu.
- Locate the field you want to change from the list, and click the pencil (Edit Field) icon next to it.
- In the edit panel that opens, update the Placeholder and Help Text inputs as needed.
- Click the Update Field button at the bottom of the panel to save your changes.
- When finished editing, click I'm done at the bottom of the Form Builder page to exit.
Quick notes
- This process applies to both pre-payment and post-payment form fields.
- You can edit both standard (pre-loaded) fields, such as the In Honor of field, and any custom fields you’ve created. Note that a few standard fields (for example, First Name and Last Name) use a simplified edit panel that does not include the Help Text field.
- The Help Text field supports up to 140 characters.
Accessing and editing form display settings
Form display settings—such as the page name shown in form previews—are managed on the main form settings screen, not in the Form Builder canvas. To edit these values, open your form from the Forms list and go to the Display settings page.
On the Display page, locate the Form Heading field in the Pre-Payment Form section. Details include:
- Field label: "Form Heading"
- Maximum character limit: 100 characters
- Placeholder text: "Thank you for making a difference!"
The Form Heading is used as the page name in form previews across the admin UI. When you update it (for example, on a cloned form), the new text appears in previews without affecting the internal name of the form.
Best practices:
- Change the Form Heading from the Display settings page—not from the Form Builder canvas.
- Keep the Form Heading under 100 characters to prevent truncation on smaller screens.
- If you clone a form and need a different preview name, update the Form Heading on the cloned form's Display settings page instead of renaming the original form in the builder.
- Use the placeholder as a guide: short, action-focused headings like "Support Student Scholarships" work best for previews.
How to update the Form Heading:
- Open the desired form from the Forms list.
- Navigate to the Display settings page.
- In the Pre-Payment Form section, edit the Form Heading (mind the 100-character limit) and save your changes.
- Use the Preview feature to confirm the updated page name.
