How to Approve Personal Videos
Personal videos are a great way for your advocates to tell their own story of why they value your institution and are choosing to give back. Whether a short and sweet selfie video, a promo of an athletic team, or shot of a toddler saying "it's giving day!" personal videos come in all shapes and sizes and help bring energy and authenticity to your campaign.
Video Approval Process
While you can expect that the vast majority of videos that are submitted to your institution will be light-hearted and G-rated, we require that school administrators first watch and approve all personal video submissions before they go live on your page. This way, you can ensure that this user-generated content aligns with your institution's standards and values.
Once a personal video is submitted, all school administrators with permissions to manage advocacy will receive an email notification to review and approve the video.
After approval: where the video appears and how to share it
Approved personal videos automatically appear on the advocate’s card on your campaign page. They do not appear as standalone elements.
- Where to find it: Locate the advocate’s card on the campaign page; the video is displayed on that card.
- Seeing additional advocates: If an advocate isn't among the most recent 10 displayed, click View All Advocates to see their card. This button appears when there are more than 10 advocates.
- How to open the video: Click Watch Video on the advocate’s card to play the video.
- Sharing the video: The Watch Video button provides a unique share link that you can copy and use in emails, texts, or social posts. This link will take you directly to a version of the page with the advocate's video open.
Note: Personal videos are only accessible via the advocate’s card on the campaign page.
Video Auto-Play Settings
Can videos auto-play on campaign pages? No, there is no auto-play feature for videos on GiveCampus campaign pages. Videos require manual play by the user. This is consistent with modern web practices that prevent unexpected audio from playing.
