Once enabled by a GiveCampus team member, you will be able to see a new left navigation item for GC Outreach and a few other buttons throughout GC Events and Online Giving where relevant to utilize within Outreach. You will also receive some email communications from the GiveCampus team about where to start and next steps. Once GC Outreach is added to your dashboard, there are a few additional and optional settings you can take to add to the capabilities. See what those settings are and how to leverage them here.
Where should you start?
We recommend starting in a few places to really get a feel for how GC Outreach can improve and play into your day to day processes for email communications.
1. Start a new draft outreach from the Outreach navigation item to explore building out emails and uploading recipient lists.
Some things to try out while you are here:
- Explore the email editing experience. If you need something to kickstart your knowledge of the editor itself, check out this video to understand how best to navigate this new editor. We recommend either trying to copy an email you have designed elsewhere or just playing around with an idea you might have for a future email
- Send a test email to yourself to check out the views in your email client specifically
- If you wanted to try out recipients, upload a list of recipients in the recipients tab. We recommend uploading a list of recipients you have recently emailed just to get a feel for it on a test email. You can always delete this draft and never send it.
2. Send a Thank You email to your donors from Online Giving.
Navigate to any campaign / giving form you have donations through that you still need to send a thank you to and click the "Send Outreach" button from the donors tab under "Manage Gifts" and it will pre-fill your list of recipients in your outreach.

Some things to try out while you are here:
- Filter your list of recipients down to specific gift amounts or gifts after a period of time (the last 24 hours maybe) to limit your recipients and get out a quick thank you email
- Delete specific recipients if there are some you want to do outside of this email
- Preview and Send the email out or schedule it for a good time of day for a thank you email

3. Send out a reminder for an upcoming event
Within GC Events, navigate to any of your upcoming events and decide if you want to email just the registrants or your registrants + guests.
Some things to try out while you're here:
- Filter down your list of recipients based on specific event data to focus on the right message in your content
If you don't have any upcoming events, try out sending an email to an event that may have happened already recently that includes a thank you for coming, an invite to a future event they may be interested in, links to pictures from the events, or anything else you think they might want to know. You can do this by selecting an event, and choosing to Send Outreach on the Event Attendance tab to all Attendees.
Now that you have kickstarted your usage, let us know if you have any questions and check out the other GCU articles about GC Outreach to get to know it even deeper.
