*We’ve created a new Personalization Workflow! Personalization is now integrated into segments in GC Outreach. Instead of uploading multiple separate files, you can now configure personalization within each segment—choose donor greetings, preview the experience, and export or send outreach from one place. Steps to using Personalization Links in GC Outreach
Step 1: Create personalization links for constituents
To add personalization links for individuals, you'll need to upload your data using the school-level data importer and include the personalization details in your upload.
If you'd like to create a new tag for a specific GC Outreach initiative, you can use the "New Tag" button in the Tags navigation to set up a new set of data with a different tag. This lets you customize things like ask amounts, designations, or display names in the links used for your GC Outreach email.

You can also use the personalization links already set up in your dashboard if you've completed the earlier steps. This option is just for tailoring your upcoming email outreach. If your data is already uploaded, feel free to skip to step 2.
Step 2: Using Links in GC Outreach
After you’ve generated your data for individual constituents, you can start using it in your outreach. You have the option to create a new outreach from scratch or use an existing one and simply update your button links to include these personalization tokens.
Within an outreach, you can use the GC Link Plugin located in the top bar of the email builder to choose from different tags for personalization. If you haven’t uploaded tags or haven’t used them before, you’ll want to select "General - No Tag". This option works well for general links, rather than specific asks like major gifts or particular campaigns/designations.
Once your email content is ready, upload your recipient list with everyone you want to reach through this email. GiveCampus will identify all matching recipients in the outreach using your personalization links and add the correct adid to the end of your campaign or giving form URL for each recipient. If a recipient has multiple email addresses linked to them through the data importer, we match based on the overall constituent, so the email addresses don’t need to be an exact match between the personalization tokens and the outreach recipient.
If a recipient doesn’t have a matching personalization link set up, they’ll receive a general link to the campaign without any pre-filled information.
You can add recipients and personalization links in either order before sending out your outreach!

Personalization Link Designation Limits
Maximum Number of Designations in Personalization Links
When creating personalized links that include multiple fund designations from a donor's giving history, there is a current limitation on the number of designations that can be included:
Current limit: Up to 5 designations can be included per personalization link For donors with extensive giving history:
- If a donor supported 15-20+ funds in the previous year, you'll need to prioritize which 5 designations to include
- Consider including their largest gifts or most recent designations
- You may need to create multiple personalized links or campaigns to cover all their interests
Workaround strategies:
- Focus on the donor's top 5 designations by gift amount
- Create separate campaigns for different designation categories
- Use general giving form links for donors with very diverse giving patterns
Common variations of this question
- How many designations can I include in personalization links?
- Limit on funds in personalized giving links
- Maximum designations per donor in CSV upload
- Can I include all funds a donor supported?
- Designation limit for adid tokens
