Why doesn't the progress of a match/ challenge match the campaign or landing page total?

Main reasons a match/ challenge will have different donor or dollar counts:

1. Matches and challenges only count gifts made while they are live- a gift made prior to the match/challenge going live are not counted.

2. When a gift is edited to add an affiliation or designation, it won’t automatically count toward a directed match or challenge. If an admin updates a gift’s designation or affiliation in the GiveCampus admin, a checkbox labeled "Count this gift towards any active matches that are restricted to this newly selected designation and/or affiliation" appears in the edit panel (in both the Designations and Affiliations sections). This box is checked by default. When saving the change, the system will evaluate active directed matches and count the gift accordingly. To prevent the gift from counting toward any active directed match, uncheck the box before saving.

3. Matches/challenges do not count themselves or other matches/challenges into their count. This is especially noticeable for a landing page- the match/challenge itself and other matches and challenges might count into a landing page, but won't count into the match/challenge, even if they are directed to the same thing.

The leaderboard and landing page display all gifts for a given designation, including matches and challenges. In contrast, a match or challenge counts only gifts made while it is live and excludes other matches and challenges.
